Skyridge is looking for interested parents to sit on the School Site Council. The Council meets once a month on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 2:30-3:30.
This is an important position as funding and program decisions are made that impact our total student population. The council works collaboratively on important procedures and approves key documents such as the school Safety Plan, the GATE Plan, English Learner Service Plan, the Parent/Student Handbook and On-Line Parent Survey. Please let Mrs. Lewandowski know if you are interested in running for an open seat on Site Council. jlewandowski@auburn.k12.ca.us or 885-7019
Thank YOU and we will see you Thursday night for BTSN and Falcon Check In

Important Information!
There was a sighting of what could have been a mountain lion very early in the morning at school today. The person who reported the animal noted that it lifted a hind leg to urinate on a bush. In speaking with biologists, this is not a behavior of a mountain lion, so it may have been a large dog. While it was not confirmed, this just reminds us that we do live next to a wild canyon and we need to be aware of the animals that we may encounter. A dead skunk was recently found on the running trail, bats are currently sunning themselves on the library walls, and deer frequently move through the Skyridge campus. Also, this is the time of the year that hibernating bears are waking up to forage. In speaking with the Fish an Game department and local biologists, they did not feel any reason to be alarmed by the sighting. They reminded us to be aware of our surroundings and to educate ourselves as how to respond if you are out and encounter wildlife. I have included the following links for more info:
As always, if there were any danger to the students at Skyridge, there would be immediate communication via the Alert Now system. Please make sure the office has all current contact information.
If you haven't done so already, please take the time to fill out our parent survey! Thank you so much

An Important Message From Mrs. Lewandowski
I have had some concerns voiced about parents not being
notified that there were reports of strangers on the campus perimeters. I wanted families to know that if there
were ever to be a confirmed incident or an arrest made, that all families would
be notified via multiple systems.
When students reported:
- a man smoking near where they were running
- a different man picking up his dog's waste (who addressed the kids rudely)
- yet a different man who offered candy and/or money
I
would encourage all parents to discuss “Stranger Danger” with their students as
we continue to do as the need arises.
Students should always go to the nearest adult responsible for their
immediate supervision to report an incident. I also encourage parents that have
questions generally or specifically about incidents to call their child’s
teacher. Furthermore, I encourage all parents to continue to be a presence at
school and take pictures or video of anyone that seems to not have a valid
purpose on school grounds or on the perimeter during school, after hours or on
weekends.
Thank
you and know that student safety is always a priority for the staff of
Skyridge.

What a busy couple of weeks we have had at Skyridge! We have had the Auburn Symphony, the Spelling and Geography Bee, Running School and are in the middle of our winter test session for MAPs. We are seeing some amazing results as students 1st-5th grade are meeting and exceeding their growth targets! As soon as your student finishes their test, the individualized Compass Learning path gets the data and develops a new path. Also, for those that had iPads at home, you can download a FREE app called “Rover” that will allow students to do Compass on the iPad. If you need any help with this, just bring your iPad in and I can show you how it works.
Don’t miss the next Food for Thought PTC fundraiser on Tuesday, Feb. 5th at Old Town Pizza. It’s a great way to make a little money for the school while enjoying a great meal.
Cupid Grams go on Sale this THURSDAY February 7th in the MPR. Help support the Kindergarten fundraiser while sending a student or a family member some LOVE!
